It has been a cold and wet weekend, for many though, it has been a tough couple of days, and may to continue to be so with power outages, and treacherous driving conditions. We had only rain, no freezing rain nor sleet, and last night it was in the upper 30s and pouring rain for hours. It continues to rain, but the temperature has risen considerably, it is 46 degrees now. I once saw it snow at 44 degrees. Speaking of the cold rain, the boyz, all three of us, spent very little time outside since Saturday. We were pleased that we had no freezing rain nor frozen precipitation. If we had a hog, it would have been a good time to have dispatched it and enjoyed some fresh "hog meat." I was thinking about what Grandpa Morris told us as young kids, that when we lost a tooth, if we did not stick our tongue in the place where the tooth had been, we would grow a gold tooth. Of course that could never be verified, now could it? Moving along, I want to relate a story that showed how much faith Donald Atkinson had. Donald bought and sold vehicles, and farm equipment too. He had more faith than anyone I ever knew. If we couldn't get a tractor to start, we would ask Donald to pray over it. It never failed to start! He once bought a Ford Ranger pickup truck on an online auction. It belonged to Washington County's board of education, and was sold because of front end damage sustained when it struck a deer. I drove us there, and when we arrived, Donald went inside to pay for it, while I stayed outside and walked over to the truck, I opened the hood and saw that the fan was in the radiator, and the radiator was destroyed. Donald had planned for us to drive it back to Garfield, but I saw that would not be happening. I walked inside to join Donald and tell him the extent of the damage to the truck. I told him it wasn't drivable, and he asked, "you didn't open the hood did you?" I said that I had, and Donald said, "I wish you had not done that, I was going to pray over it." That was Donald, he truly believed, and was a man of faith.

This would be great weather to fry mullet! I love mullet. We were a mullet family. We loved mullet fried, and then as a special treat the next morning, we would take the fish from the refrigerator. pick the meat from the pieces, add the cold mullet to our plate full of cane syrup, we would mash it with our fork, add cold butter and sour cream, then sop it with biscuits I know that sounds terrible, but it was a wonderful breakfast. Speaking of breakfast, I miss Shoney's breakfast buffet. It was the very best breakfast ever. When I was younger, I could eat an enormous platter of good eats. Shoney's probably cried when they saw me coming. as they surely lost money on me.

I would really like to enjoy a Shoney's breakfast buffet once more. Shoney's had good food in general, but the breakfast was amazing. Okay let's say our goodbyes, as we hate to see you go, so be very careful.

Faith can move mountains! It is great for someone to have that much faith. I too love Shoneys breakfast. We have a Shoney's in Vidalia. I live in Soperton, but I work in Vidalia 5 days a week. I like their lunch buffet too. I hope you and the boyz have a super blessed week, Mr. Wade. Stay warm.🙏❤️🙏
Good breakfast is a good start for the day! Eat a good one = No worry about calories - just work them off! Top it off with a good cup of coffee and have a great day!!
