A REMEMBERAMBLE, JANUARY 10, 2026

I do wish for one and all, a good day, and offer my greetings and those of my boyz who are napping aftercoming back inside. There was a bit of a nice sunrise on display this morning, and it is well to begin a relaxing Saturday with a walk in the cool of the morning while seeing the sunrise as it changes moment to moment, as if it were God's kaleidoscope. Now, just typing the word "kaleidoscope," made a thought pop into my head, and is illustrative of how my mind works. What was that thought, you ask? The word my brain coined, "collide-ascope," you know, a device to watch car accidents through. Now, I did not say the term was funny, nor sensible, which it is not...huhuh..., but merely an example of the inanity (no, I did not mean insanity, inanity is a word) that my big ole noggin's "word garden," produces. Well, enough of that for now, let's walk across the ole dirt road and see what awaits us there. Well, here we are, and it is a good time to keep my promise of yesterday about detailing the latest stumbling block the debble has laid before me on my path to resolving health and financial deficits, so here it is. You may recall that I had decided to wait until I was aged sixty-seven, on October 31, 2025, to draw my Social Security benefits because doing so allows me to draw 100% of my benefits, and earned income doesn't reduce those benefits. I had planned to continue working. But cataracts and heart disease made me have to stop working about six months ago. I was enrolled in Medicare about a year ago and have two supplement policies, but waited to file for SS benefits. A couple of months before my birthday, I went to apply for my benefits, only to discover that someone else had filed also with my SS number and identity. They SS Administration gave me forms to fill out and have signed and witnessed swearing that I had not been employed ever, by the businesses that the ID thief had listed, for the past three years. I got that done and went back to the SS Administration offices to hand deliver those corrected forms. When I did, the woman told me that due to the government shutdown that had begun of course, on that very day, they would file my application and affidavits but not process them until the government shutdown was over, and the backlog was cleared up. After the shutdown ended I heard nothing from them, so I called them last week to find thee status of my application. They gave me another telephone appointment for February 2nd, but this situation had already become critical for me, as I have been out of work with no income for six months. I decided to o over there yesterday in person to see what they would tell me. I did speak to an employee, in fact the very one that I gave my paperwork to those months ago. I did not expect that she remembered this, so I apprised her of the recent events regarding my SS application. She looked on the computer and told me that I had not applied for SS, that all I had done was correct my earnings statement with those forms. I was stupefied! I asked her how she reckoned I had gotten the forms from them and used them to correct my situation as it regarded my SS benefits? She she had no idea but I had not ever applied for benefits. She said, anyway, you would have to talk to a claims specialist and give them my checking account number and routing number. I smiled and assured her I had done that very thing and it was all right there, in her filing cabinet. She once more assured me that I had not filed.

Welcome to Lalaland, take a number and wait! ..... She said, "anyway, you have a telephone appointment on February 7," to which I replied, "they told me it was on February 2." She said, "no, it is on the 7th." Asked her three times if she was sure about that date and she said, "yes, the 7th." She said there was nothing to be done until then. I told her of my heart and other health conditions and that I was convinced that I would not live long enough to ever get an income started, and there is a good chance that is true, not simply more of my facetiousness. There was nothing to be done but wait for my telephone appointment in February. As I was about to leave I did ask her a fourth time about the date of that call, "saying, I was sure they told me the 2nd." She looked it up on her computer and said, "oh, yes it is on the 2nd, it is set for 10:47 am, that is what threw me off.

I will be going to Augusta to see Dr. Kapoor at Wellstar MCG in Augusta soon to see if he thinks it advisable to try to place the third stent that I need badly. I hope this has not been too depressing, as it has not been depressing for me, because I know it will be fine, God has me right where He wants me...I shall wait for His time. Lovey'all. Wade, I am so sorry that you are having to go through all of this. It is never simple when you have to deal with any of the government offices. When my husband passed away, I finally had to call my congressman to get things done. After I contacted him, it was not too long before I received my first check. They had told me that it could take 5 to 6 months; but not after I contacted my Congressman. You might need to get your Representative or Congressman to get involved. Praying for you!

The government seems to have gone downhill since I applied for my benefits 13 yrs ago. It was so very easy. Today it seems nothing is easy when dealing with bureaucrats. Praying that this gets resolved quickly. I can't imagine they are so busy that they can't handle your issue in person. Oh, don't get me started. Keeping you in my prayers.
