THANK HEAVENS FOR EARL, THIS COULD HAVE TURNED OUT BADLY!
THANK HEAVENS FOR EARL, THIS COULD HAVE TURNED OUT BADLY!

Gosh, a biscuit outage can get folks riled up, knocked down, and old lady's step-ins in a bunch! Ole aunt Maude can 'member the bad, bad days when biscuits "was scase," or "plumb, not to be had'a'tall." She was a right young woman when that debble incarnate, sherman and his rabble trash come through wusser'n a swarm of locusts totin' burnin' lightered knots, whut they did not take, or kill, they defileded! They wuz nothing to make a biscuit with or from! In her ole head she ain't yet forgot nigh on these many years the sound of biscuitless younguns a squallin'! They was'a wantin' biscuits, but they whuttin biscuits to be had, and them preciousnesses begging they ma's for just a crumb from one. Dark days. Dark days they wuz! It seemed that this land could forget those long ago days without biscuits, nor even a hoecake of bread, "plenty" had not been killed off, just knocked in the head I reckon we would say. But chile listen to me, then come another war, a long war, and the gubment took to takin' thangs, and making folks sign up for some things, or rationed them so tight they were not much to be had. You couldn't find lard except from your own hogs, and if ya cow went dry, you couldn't make "biscuit one!" Yessum, here in Garfield, Earl is royalty indeed. But even Earl sees the handwriting on the wall, Garfield is smack-dab in the middle between Swainsboro and Millen, and even ole aunt Maude has took a liking to them McDonalds biscuits. Earl knew he did not need a Daniel to tell him what was written as ole Belshazzar did. I vow to keep talking the need for good biscuits for as long as our Lord sends me. You know only a few short weeks ago, we were in a drought, and we beseeched our Dear Lord, humbly asking for rain. He heard our cries, big time! We never want to present ourselves to the Lord as being ungrateful, so we are loathe to ask Him to hold off on it for a bit now! We boyz three had a very good weekend, we ate well, and fellowshipped with several visitors, we broke bread with some who are blessings to us. You also are a blessing to us, we love our readers. Keep looking for my "Postcards from Garfield," since Rememberamble done and r-u-n-d-o-f! Be ever mindful of who God ordained you to be, never let His word to you, return to him void.

we boyz three, babee conway, lil merle, & me
