GOOD MORNING, FRIENDS
GOOD MORNING, FRIENDS

A Rememberamble for Tuesday, September 09, 2025 ..... Now that I am unable to work, you might think that I would be gaining weight due to inactivity. I have battled being overweight for most of my life. But, I actually lose a bit by being off work for an extended period, and you may wonder why, or maybe not, but you know me, I will tell you anyway! On work days, I begin my day by stopping at one of several convenience stores that serve breakfast.

A nice, big breakfast spread with all of those luscious choices, just grabs me by the throat, snatches me down to eye level with all of the sausages, bacon, eggs, biscuits, gravy, sidemeat, and so much more, and I become Daffy Duck at a gold mine. I want some of it all, and it's mine, mine, mine!! Now I can't work, therefore no Jethro breakfast for me. No funds for it anyway, or I'd just drive the 4/10ths of a mile to our Garfield store each morning.

The name for it is "austerity measures," like those imposed by the World Bank upon bankrupt little dictatorships when they loan them twelve or ten trillion dollars to tide them over until their income tax refund comes. Hopefully, in the next two or three months, I can get the Social Security stumbling blocks cleared up and get a little income at least, and also have my cataract surgery done and get my vision back. I have appointments for both, Social Security and and eye doctors coming up in the next few weeks.

Pray for good results with both, please. Yesterday, I wrote a post about pioneers selecting good trees for splitting, and a post about the scourge of pellagra in our history, I did those because I realized I have been lax of late in doing much more here than these morning posts and some pictures and videos of the boyz. Those are all good, but I need to carry on the tradition here of writing about our history and how our people managed things over time.

Which reminds me of an observation I made not long after founding this group, and that is the fact that we are culturally proud of our history of poverty, and we are free to indulge in all manner of reminiscing about it. We do love wallowing in the memories of destitution, me included, but let one single soul write about how well off they were growing up, and regale us with the nice things they were given and life they enjoyed, we become like sharks at a seafood buffet!

Nope, no one will countenance hearing about having enjoyed wealth growing up. We are expected to be right proud of how poor we might have been, but you best keep happy memories of plenty, bottled up. What does that say about us, that we like to share the misery of poverty but are ashamed to speak of wealth. I ask these questions as if it is a mystery, but truly it is not. It is deep-seated human nature, to honor triumph over poverty or any wide-spread social hardship, because it is shared by the majority.

Likewise, wealth was not the norm, and was resented somewhat by the poorer masses. During the French Revolution, the Russian Revolution as well as others, wealth could and likely would get you killed. Class warfare and class struggles historically made it advisable to "poor-mouth," and not flaunt wealth. Even our Bible castigates wealth. Well, let us leave that one laying right there, and move along. I hope you can come to our Gathering and Old Time Story Revival this Saturday.

It is going to be a fun day. Please don't miss it. Again, may God bless you and I pray you understand how much you mean to me. Numbers 6: 24-26 KJV ..... we boyz three, babee conway, lil merle, & me

We wish it were feasible to attend the gathering. We have a 90th birthday celebration that same day. Maybe next year?

Good morning, Mr. Wade and a good morning to everytone else. The eye surgery for me was a breeze. I had to have both eyes fifteen years ago. It was amazing to be able to see clear again. Thank you Lord. May everyone have a Blessed Day.
