GOOD MORNING, FRIENDS

Good morning friends. Running late here this morning! But, as they say, "better late than later"...(I mistyped that, and meant to say, "better late, than never," but as I read it, I liked it better that way, so I left it)...haha. It has been cloudy, drizzly, and cool for the past few days, and cooler weather is here to stay, at least into the foreseeable future. I have told y'all before that I love cool, cloudy, drizzly weather. I would be happy to live on a craggy cliff, along the isolated, and forbidding coast of Scotland.
Or as a lighthouse keeper on a coastal outcropping of rock.
Or the Cornwall area of England, in a remote stone cottage, seeing few folks, and writing in peace when the weather was merely atrocious, and hibernating in sleep-wrapped hibernation when the worst would come. I would welcome the wind as I would a friend, but as a friend who knew when to leave.
The wind can play games with our ancient brains, it can tickle and it can torture, but those two are double-first cousins. If the wind comes ready to stay for a while, it can be that which severs our love-bond with God's natural world. Only when it stays too long, does it become the enemy. Cabin fever and insanity can abide with sustained winds, and turn the mind inward to try to protect itself from the sustained onslaught and unceasing scream of it all.
Men have lost their minds when shut in for too long with bitter cold and howling winds that seemed hell-sent as destroyers of the peace. Yesterday, I went to Statesboro to UPS the sleep study ring back to Blackstone Medical from whence it came. Tomorrow, I go to Swainsboro for a cardiac stress test, not the treadmill, but the pharmacological nuclear cardiac stress test.
I had one of those a few years ago, it is not uncomfortable to endure, but the idea of letting someone have their way with your heart, can cause a bit of fear or anxiety. Well, let me pause, sitting here writing this, much later than usual, I am getting notifications that I have three appointments at Emanuel County Hospital for tomorrow!
I just now called my doctor's office to find out what it is about, since I was told I would have the stress test at 8:30am, it says now that I have a 10:00am appointment as well as a 1:00pm appointment. I am awaiting their return call now to verify this and explain it to me. Dr. Brown probably ordered more testing and they had not notified me. We shall see.
We should all be praying for those island nations just to our south, who are threatened by the massive and powerful Hurricane Melissa. It is apt to be a devastating disaster for millions of island residents, most of whom live in static poverty. This storm is said to be an exceptional one, and could produce devastation not seen in the Caribbean in decades, or ever.
Those islands have few natural features that offer protection from such a storm, nor do they have many man-made structures that could keep them safe. I am going to let you go, so you may take on the day, lasso it, wrangle it, and rope and tie it, show it who is boss, and if the debble tries to make it a bad day, rebuke him in the name of Jesus. And all God's children said,"?" They said "AMEN!"
